About Us

What is the Lyceum?

Lyceum has a double meaning; it is both a place of learning and the content for learning.

The Lynedoch Lyceum is a tranquil place tucked away in the heart of Norfolk County where people come to reconnect with themselves and others, or to simply get away, take a break and have some fun.

  • Assisting 45 companies to access government funding
  • Consulting Services such as Business and Marketing plans, SituationalAnalyses, and Strategic Plans.

In addition to overseeing the Lyceum’s on-going renovation and operations, Richard share’s his Lyceum Experience through a motivational, entertaining and inspiring 45 to 90 minute keynote presentation entitled “New Beginnings for a Journey Without End!” But for Richard, the most important aspect of his role at the Lyceum is about meeting and communicating with new friends, discussing and exploring new potentials, and re-connecting with that little voice within to guide you over the next leg of your journey.

The Lynedoch Lyceum was established as a travelling library and debating society in 1866 by John Charlton. A distinguished resident of Lynedoch, John Charlton served as the area’s Member of Parliament for 32 years strongly supporting the rights of women, and free trade with the United States.

Re-established in 2003 by Richard Gilbert, the Lynedoch Lyceum is now located in the historic Lynedoch Public School and serves as a Bed and Breakfast, Retreat and Special Event Center. It continues the tradition of empowering personal discovery and development.
